Commercial Diving Academy Takes Over Operation of 40 Fathom Grotto
In January 2007, Commercial Diving Academy (CDA) of Jacksonville, Florida, assumed operation of 40 Fathom Grotto. CDA will continue to make the Grotto readily available to instructors, guides and divers as in the past, plus use 40 Fathom Grotto as a deep-water training site for its commercial and recreational diving instructor students. In the months ahead, visitors to 40 Fathom Grotto will see some significant changes as all of the Grotto’s facilities, including the dive store, rental inventory, bath houses, fill station and docks are updated and modernized.
Commercial Diving Academy is among the world’s leading trainers of commercial divers, offering a comprehensive 16-week air/mixed-gas course leading to entry-level Diver/Tender certification by the Association of Diving Contractors International (ADCI). Additional courses are available in Mobile Crane Operation, Able Bodied Seaman, Underwater Welding and Burning, Diving Medical Technician (DMT) and more.
Professional Scuba Diving Academy (PSDA), a division of CDA, offers a comprehensive four-week program leading to certification as a NAUI Instructor. Additional programs in technical and recreational diving are available through PSDA, and will be offered on a regular basis at 40 Fathom Grotto.

Barracuda Gold Meets Quality Demands. Capt. R. Black of Blacksmith Marine completesunderwater welding project in Israel using Barracuda Gold. This project involved welding a collar on to an existing pipeline in 30m of water. We were asked to produce suitable welding procedures and of course supply Barracuda Gold electrodes |

DMS 1101 - Dive Medic Specialist
Commercial Diving Academy offers a comprehensive Diver Medic Specialist (DMS) program, internationally recognized and taught by Paramedic Instructors. This program is recognized by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT) as fulfillment of the EMT minimum requirement for Diver Medic Technician and commonly referred to as Module 16. Students who successfully complete the Dive Medical Specialist program at CDA will now be qualified to sit for the State of Florida EMT examination.
