A CAREER IN DIVE MEDICINE

Most people think of underwater welding or underwater construction when they think of commercial diving. But dive medicine, as taught here at Commercial Diving Academy, applies not only to commercial diving, but also to other forms of diving, such as recreational or scientific diving.

A good overview of the diving field is offered at about.com. If you go to their website, use their search facility to look up an article called "Scuba Diving for Beginners". In that article, diving is divided into four categories: Recreational diving, Commercial diving, Scientific diving, and Military diving. Apart from the Military category, which is self-contained, look at the other three categories. Each of the three categories has divers that will be concerned with decompression sickness, carbon monoxide poisoning, wounds, and infections. These hazards of diving are the concerns of dive medicine.

In every part of our water-covered world, at every season of the year, vast numbers of people are engaged in the business and pleasure of diving. These divers need the services of trained professionals in the field of dive medicine. If you are interested in more information about dive medicine, or if you want information about training for a career in dive medicine, Commercial Diving Academy can be of service. Use our Ask An Expert link on our homepage to get more information about careers and training in dive medicine.
