The long term affects of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita on the lives of people living along the Gulf Coast can never be measured in dollars. The emotional impact of the survivors will far exceed the recovery dollars spent and we have extended our thoughts, prayers and contributions to the recovery effort. As a trade school, The Commercial Diving Academy is in the unique position to help with the rebuilding process. Our mission is to train the work force that will be the key to recovery efforts within the energy industry. We have all felt the impact of the recent spike in gasoline prices as a direct result of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita. The price increases have highlighted the fact that the energy industry is critical to our nations economy, and subsequently, The Commercial Diving Academy is critical to the energy industry.
Historically, devastating weather such as hurricanes have always created employment opportunities for those trained as Commercial Diving Specialists, Underwater Welding Specialists, Dive Medical Specialists, Rigging Specialists, Underwater Burning Specialist and Topside Welding Specialists. The Commercial Diving Academy has been providing training and expertise for students interested in these careers since 1995. In addition, we assist graduating students with job placement. Recently we hosted Steven B. Moses, the President of Tiburon Divers Inc and Mark Harper of Oceaneering International Company to discuss our graduating classes. In a recent press release, Oceaneering announced new capitol expenditures in the area of $18 million dollars to meet the growing demand of the Industry. The opportunities in the Industry for graduating Students are escalating rapidly and The Commercial Diving Academy is prepared to help students take advantage of that growth.
